Uber Teams with Carnegie Mellon University to Create Uber Advanced Technologies Center
App-based transportation service Uber just announced a new partnership with Carnegie Mellon

App-based transportation service Uber just announced a new partnership with Carnegie Mellon University that will create a leading technology and research facility in Pittsburgh. The Uber Advanced Technologies Center will oversee a number of projects, the most notable of which include the research and design of autonomous vehicles. Just last May, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick admitted that self-driving cars would take the service to the next level by cutting out labor costs and making the cost of taking an Uber anywhere “cheaper than owning a vehicle.” Uber and Carnegie Mellon are expected to hold an event in Pittsburg to formally commemorate the partnership in the coming weeks.
