KAWS Teases Upcoming Yorkshire Sculpture Park Exhibition

A firsthand look at creating the street artist’s massive wooden sculptures.

NYC artist KAWS took to Instagram to post teaser shots of his forthcoming gallery exhibition in the UK. On a recent visit to the factory in Maastricht in the Netherlands, he shot portions of his impressive wooden sculptures being built, giving an idea of the scale and magnitude of the overall pieces once finished. The exhibition is scheduled to run from February 6 – June 12, 2016 at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the UK’s first sculpture park based on an open-air gallery. The show will also include his graphic canvases rendered in acrylic paint, along with sculptures made out of fiberglass and wood at the park’s expansive Longside Gallery. The exhibition will continue to express KAWS’s trademark theme featuring nostalgic characters in the process of growing up.
