Canadian Netflix Subscribers Will Be Able to Stream 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' in 2016
Sorry, America.

Canadian Netflix users have long voiced their displeasure about the superior movie and TV show selection that is available to American subscribers, so much so that many of them have resorted to obtaining the U.S. version through VPN service providers. However, subscribers in the Great White North will be pleased to know that they will be able to “exclusively” watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2016, as Canada is currently the only territory where the on-demand service has obtained streaming rights for the upcoming film. According to Variety, Starz still holds the exclusive rights to Disney’s releases in the U.S. until the end of the year and since the seventh installment of Star Wars is scheduled for a December 16 release, this means users will have to pay to watch the film via the premium cable network. Netflix Canada on the other hand, struck a deal with Disney which began this year. Stay tuned for more information on this story.
