Lupe Fiasco and a Google Executive Launch a $1Million USD Entrepreneur Search
Giving entrepreneurs in underserved, marginalized neighborhoods a lane to succeed.

Lupe Fiasco — a Chicago-bred emcee known to many as a “conscious” rapper — has partnered Di-Ann Eisnor, an angel investor and Google Waze executive, in establishing a 1 million dollar search for entrepreneurs in underserved, marginalized neighborhoods. Kicking off in Brownsville, New York this November 13, the Neighborhood Start Fund will hear entrepreneurial pitches from the residents of this Brooklyn neighborhood with a chance to win $5,000 USD to build prototypes, in addition to “access to mentorship and free technology services.”
The profits from the start-up selected will stay in Brownsville to help boost the local economy. “It’s very important to me that this is not philanthropy, that we have real economic engines and real wealth coming to these neighborhoods,” Eisnor says. “If one success comes out of this, then other investors will take it seriously. We want to be the on-ramp to something more sustainable.”
