The Observation House Sits Atop an Elevated Meadow for Panoramic Views
A fortress on the outside, a haven within.

Tucked away in a small Bulgarian village is the Observation House designed by I/O Architects, which is modeled after an observation tower by the fact that it places a pavilion structure atop a formidable stone podium. Making the most out of a hilltop plot, the lower level of the house is constructed out of stone-filled cages called gabions, while a wide-brimmed roof distinguishes an all-glass upper level providing sweeping vistas of the surrounding agricultural land. An elevated garden creates the sensation of the upper volume being on the ground floor while ensuring privacy.
