Not long after releasing a project comprised of the beats from his collaborative album with Freddie Gibbs, renown producer Madlib has returned with another instrumental offering. Named The Beats, this project includes 10 Madlib instrumentals that were used for the original soundtrack he put together for the Stones Throw documentary, Our Vinyl Weights a Ton. Officially releasing September 9, the project is currently available for preorder in 10-inch vinyl with a choice of two different sleeves. Read up on further specs of the release below, and listen to ”Cue 4” which was unveiled today above.

The Beats contains 10 tracks of instrumental hip-hop created for the Stones Throw film Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton. This is Madlib’s first original soundtrack and first 10-inch vinyl release.

This album is being issued with two different sleeves (girls on one, skull & bong on the other) each wrapped with a custom, removable card, designed in the style of the Boss SP-303 sampler.
