After getting the Air Max BW‘s OG “Persian Violet” treatment last fall, Nike’s low-top Air Trainer 2 returns for Summer 2014 with a “Safari” makeup. Donning the look of the classic Air Safari, the kicks appear to be a nod to NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sanders and his decorated collegiate years at Oklahoma State – a three-year stint that culminated with Sanders winning the 1988 Heisman Trophy after averaging more than 200 rushing yards per game in what is considered by many to be the single greatest season for an individual in the history of college football. The Sanders-inspired Nike Air Trainer 2 PRM QS “Safari” is set to hit NSW retailers like Tokyo’s atmos in limited quantities on May 17.
