Brand strategist, entrepreneur and footwear aficionado Rick Williams is not one to rest on his laurels. In 2007, the Detroit native purchased the retail space Burn Rubber, a homage to his love for sneakers. A few years later, Williams tried his hand in branding and design, launching his brainchild agency Distinct Life. While catering to a diverse range of clients from the realms of fashion, automotives and electronics, the label’s in-house line, Distinct Life Dry Goods, has also garnered a loyal following — most recently collaborating with Reebok on an updated look to the GL 6000. To make sure he’s on top of schedule, Williams is armed with a gang of functional apps. Nike Running and FuelBand help him keep track of his exercises while Trade King helps him keep track of what’s moving on stock exchanges. Olive Tree keeps the man well-read and MyPlate keeps him updated on all things related to dietary health, while Turbo Scan and Pantone help him with his work duties. All packed into an iPhone 5s, check out Rick Williams’ Tech Essentials above.
