Tod’s 2014 Spring/Summer Envelope Boat Shoes by Nendo

The tradition of Italian footwear manufacturing has been reinterpreted for the 21st century thanks to a new collaboration between Tod’s and award-winning Japanese design studio Nendo, and its lead designer/architect, Oki Sato. Dubbed the “Envelope Boat Shoe,” the collaborative endeavor is a new take on Tod’s renowned deck shoe and takes its name from the way in which it wraps around the wearer’s foot. Pairing a soft leather vamp with suede quarter panels and a matching backstay, the release couples the specially-designed upper with a classic rubber sole and breathable mesh interior. Capping off the look is a distinctive fastening detail with a duo of matte silver studs. Entirely handmade in Italy and the perfect balance between the casual and elegant, the Nendo-designed Envelope Boat Shoe will soon be available in shades of blue, grey, brown, black and putty at Tod’s stockists across the globe.
