Having last seen legendary Bay Area graffiti artist Barry McGee in Rome participating in a joint exhibition with Clare Rojas, we now deliver a look at his Beats by Dre Pill collaboration for Art Basel in Miami. With a color combination of orange and an off-white hue, this wireless speaker features one of Twist’s signature characters smoking a joint. In reference to this limited edition piece, McGee states “I have always been fascinated with the ‘weed culture’ within popular culture as a whole, but for some reason, I never really took part. I wanted to develop a contemporary ‘Zig-Zag man’ type character or mascot that speaks to that culture but that would also appeal to the masses. Something that operated like the brand Junk Food.”
The Barry McGee x Beats by Dre Pill will be available at the NADA fair on December 5.
