FKA twigs Honors Her Inspiring Story with Live Performance

Musicians don’t just decide to “make it” one day; they say there is ten years of hard work for every 15 minutes of stage time. This definitely rings true for Tahliah Debrett Barnett, better known as FKA twigs. Currently, her award nominations, features, sold-out shows and appearances are all bringing her growing recognition, but it wasn’t always the case for this multi-talented English singer-songwriter. Before Young Turks Recordings released LP1 and EP2, twigs worked four jobs while pursuing a music career. At one point, she even took up backup dancing after realizing that a gig could earn her more money than the combined jobs. Although her passion does not stem in dance, it did help connect her with prominent artists like Jessie J and Kylie Minogue, which in turn led her a deeper understanding towards the pursuit of her true passion — music. On top of such an inspiring come-up story, twigs stopped by The Current with her band for an in-studio live performance and a chat with music director and host, David Safar. Check it out here.
