Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and CFO Dave Wehner recently sat down to speak on the tech company’s plans for the next 10 years. One goal for the company is to both expand and integrate its many existing Facebook communication platforms, including WhatsApp, Messenger, Search, Video, News Feed, Oculus and Instagram, each connecting over 1 billion users worldwide. In addition to further expanding its existing platforms, Zuckerberg points to an aggressive increase in advertising investments, particularly mobile ads, in order to monetize the planned expansion and make a return for future investments into communications technology and innovation. Zuckerberg believes that the potential of the Oculus – a Facebook-owned virtual reality headset – will gain huge traction in the next 10 to 15 years, claiming, “We’re making a long-term bet on the future of computing…and we think that virtual and augmented reality are important parts of this upcoming next platform.” Already holding a firm position in the social media and technological communications sphere, Facebook continues to blueprint its strategic plans for even further growth.
