Swedish-owned American luxury brand GANT teams with fashion designer Michael Bastian to help produce his first nautical collection for Spring/Summer 2014. The collection is inspired by Ridley Scott’s film “White Squall,” based on a true story about a crew of Kennedy-era American students who brave an ill-fated school sailing trip aboard the Albatross, which sank in 1961. The collection embodies the daring phrase “WHERE WE GO ONE, WE GO ALL” and features pieces that are suited for voyages at sea. Key notes include a vintage madras blazer directly inspired by the film, washed canvas blazers, and a jacquard-knit cloud sweater. Other essential items that complement the lineup include pairs of camo shorts and fitted cargos, soft madras shirts and polos with printed rope detailing. Select items in the collection are further accented by details such as real mother of pearl buttons, glen plaid linens and vintage tie print shirting. Tying the collection together, the palette is a blend of off-white, sandy beige and dusty gray tones, paired with summer sky blue, lotus yellow, navy and Nantucket red. Stay tuned for further details on the collection as the release date approaches.
