They say you have to know your past in order to know your future – exactly the concept followed by Nike when devising their latest, most pinnacle soccer cleat: The Premier. While the recently unveiled Hypervenom boasts an intimidating name, an ostentatious neon colorway, and more features than a Swiss Army knife, The Premier is presented as its modest, unimposing cousin. That’s not to say that The Premier is any slouch, as the goat leather silhouette features the same anatomical fit at its brightly-colored counterpart. Its leather upper increases ball feel, while the flexible traction sole allows for quick movements in any situation on the pitch. The shoe is influenced by classic boots such as the ‘94 Tiempo Premier – worn by 10 players in the World Cup final – as well as the first boot to carry the iconic Swoosh logo: “The Nike.” Expect The Premier to hit North American retailers on June 1, while international audiences will receive the boot on July 1.
