Created with feedback from the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Nike took to Rio de Janeiro to unveil the brand new Hypervenom boot for Brazilian international – and newly-signed FC Barcelona striker – Neymar. Whereas Nike’s Mercurial Vapor IX was purely crafted for speed, the Hypervenom allows players to quickly create space in and around the penalty area thanks to its split toe plate and NIKESKIN upper. Pairing soft, supple mesh with a thin polyurethane film and All Conditions Control technology, the boot’s upper delivers superior fit and feel – thus enhancing ball control – while a newly developed last, high-response compressed nylon plate and unique stud configuration allow the foot to sit closer to the ground as the cleats penetrate the playing surface with ease. The brand new Hypervenom is set to make its on-pitch debut in Rio on the feet of both Neymar and Wayne Rooney as the two strikers meet head-to-head when Brazil takes on England in an international friendly on June 2.
