Though Reebok hasn’t been technically British for over 40 years, the Classic Leather‘s adoption by generations of youth – which spans back to the 1980s – makes it a de facto citizen of sorts. When given the opportunity to approach the Classic Leather, the online sneaker pioneers at Crooked Tongues decided to remain honest to the silhouette as it existed in times past. As such, the “Wannabe” makes references to being young in the ’90s, reggae parties and their rudeboys, and, chiefly, opposing affluent culture; the leather snakeskin upper makes a nod to the Patrick Cox loafers prevalent in the 1990s. An off-white and gum sole compliments the upper, as do the contrasting lace tips and blanked out lettering on the side – which are intended to be dirtied.
