Earlier this month, designer Yosuke Aizawa and White Mountaineering unveiled their upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 collection with a runway event at Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Stadium Gymnasium #2 – which was famously designed by architect Kenzo Tange to house basketball competition at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Dubbed “TRAINING DAY,” the show got underway with a basketball game and a display of streetball skills on the gym’s artfully lit court before the models took to the floor to show off the latest set of pullover sweaters, cardigans, vests, button-downs, shorts, trousers, lightweight outerwear and other sportswear-inspired designs from the label. The heavy bass of the specially-created soundtrack furthered the sporting feel of the event, as it was punctuated with the sounds of bouncing basketballs, whistles, exasperated athletes and more.
