Yes, you read the title of this post correctly. Michael Jackson made a song about abortion. And yes, it’s official. Interestingly enough, “Song Groove (Abortion Papers)” was released this past Tuesday by Epic Records/Legacy Recordings/MJJ Productions as a part of Bad 25, the 25th anniversary edition of Jackson’s Grammy Award-winning seventh solo studio album, Bad, which has sold over eight million copies in the U.S. to date. On the set is the original album in its entirety, demo versions of those songs, remixes of those songs, and demos of unreleased tracks recorded during the Bad sessions. Amongst the unreleased is this poignant ballad that touches on a topic that is still extremely controversial today. While the subject matter may be deep and not what you’d expect from MJ, the King of Pop still made “Song Groove (Abortion Papers)” something you can sing and dance along to. Head over to iTunes to purchase a digital copy of Bad 25 or Jackson’s web store for a physical bundle.
