Idol–a multifaceted creative space designated to be a cafe, shop and event space–recently opened in Tokyo’s Aoyama District. Inside, one will find well-worn wood floors and raw concrete walls, along with a complementary mix of mismatched industrial furnishings and fixtures. The Idol shop will offer a range of labels that include Ann Demeulemeester, John Lawrence Sullivan and Somarta, with plans to expand the product offerings in the near future, according to designer Eiji Hatanaka. Customers will also be able to purchase toiletries and grooming supplies such as Byredo perfumes and Knock Out nail polish. Meanwhile, the cafe and bar will offer a Western menu along with a selection of cocktails. The rest of the space will be left open for various exhibitions and events.
