Having recently closed a three-week-long exhibit at Known Gallery in Los Angeles titled “Some Thing Else,” Bay Area artist Aaron De La Cruz links with HYPEBEAST once again; this time around he runs his pockets to display a few daily must-haves and trade tools for our latest Essentials installment. De La Cruz and his elaborate grid-like illustrations have been featured on these viral pages numerous times, including a Pen & Paper feature back in April, with no signs of creative blockage in sight. Although new to the world of gallery art, his mesmerizing work has expanded from graffiti and custom streetwear, to product design, giant murals, and even a custom Toyota Prius. His work tends to be very minimal and direct, however once given the time to saturate, it transforms to offer a much higher meaning found in a broad range of mediums and contexts. Continuing his minimalist aesthetics, De La Cruz is seen here showcasing a few pieces he needs to create his renowned markings along with some subtle accessories. Additional work can be viewed and purchased though his official website.
