Perhaps better known as the father of the Korean Taco, Roy Choi is a classically trained chef and valedictorian of his class at the Culinary Institute of America, and a founding partner of Kogi BBQ in Los Angeles. Kogi BBQ, smack at the center of California’s taco truck revolution, is responsible for bringing us Korean-Mexican fusion innovations like Kimchi Quesadillas and short rib tacos, and has reaped such success perpetrating a street food renaissance that it has expanded to 5 trucks and 3 restaurants in under 4 years. Considered an integral flavor of Los Angeles, Kogi has been invited to represent a pop-up restaurant in the second Avant/Garde Diaries Transmission Series event curated by Mike D. at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Transmission LA: AV Club runs from April 20 to May 6, 2012.
