We had the opportunity to meet with Pharaohe Monch a few weeks ago and speak to him on a wide range of topics stemming from his early beginnings into the hip-hop game, onto his life-long battle with asthma, and how it helped shape his music career. A product of the golden era of hip-hop, Pharoahe also shared his insight on the music game today as it stands in contrast to the ’90s and early 2000s. These thoughts and emotions all come full circle on his impressive new album, W.A.R. which stands for “We Are Renegades.” That project is available now on iTunes through Duck Down Records.
