For the last 10 years, James Murphy led LCD Soundsystem on top of the dance punk genre due to three critically-acclaimed longplayers, countless singles and award nominations. On Saturday night, the celebrated band invited their fans to Madison Square Garden to experience their last show ever. Much to the delight of the sold-out audience the band was also assisted by good friends Arcade Fire, Reggie Watts and Shit Robot. For three-and-a-half hours, the band played 29 songs in total, and gave their fans a treat by performing “45:33.” After performing their opening number, an emotional Murphy told the crowd:
“This is a weird experience for us.” He added, “In keeping with the history of our band, we hope it’s going to be a weird experience for everybody.” “It’s like New Year’s except next year we’re dead.”
