Here comes the latest edition of Hypetrak’s Weekly Set-series. Despite the growing popularity of his G.O.O.D. Friday-series, Kanye West had to give up this week’s top spot to none other than Carlos Santana. The legendary guitarist teamed up with Nas in order to create a thundering cover of AC/DC’s “Back In Black”. Things get back to normal as we move on to the second spot which is inhabited by Yeezy and his latest signing Pusha T. The intriguing new single “Runaway” which debuted during this year’s MTV Music Awards has definitely shown ‘Ye’s creative style and out of the box-mentality. In addition, he blessed us with a stunning collaborative monster titled “Lord Lord Lord” that features illustrious guests Mos Def Swizz Beatz Raekwon Charlie Wilson. The G.O.O.D. fun doesn’t end here, as a previously unreleased track by KiD CuDi appeared on the net and satisfied the needs of Cudder’s numerous following. Rounding up the top five is UK uber-producer Rusko who turned in a great remix of Mr. Hudson’s 2008 single “White Lies”.
We have also seen another superb remix of La Roux seemingly timeless track “In For The Kill”, a radio rip of Cee-Lo Green’s “F**K YOU” follow-up single, Pusha T delivering raw lyricism, Chromeo and Ezra Koenig’s first step to self-awareness and J.Period lacing his vision of a dream come true-like collaboration.
Last week also brought forth excellent visuals, such as the much anticipated visualization of Maximum Balloon and Theophilus London’s hit “Groove Me” and Chiddy Bang’s first video off their upcoming new album The Preview. Bilal offered a great Bob Marley-cover whereas Delorean let the dogs out for their latest clip. It sure took them long enough, but Melbourne’s dynamic duo Flight Facilities finally delivered the visual for their club favorite “Crave You”.
Even if there haven’t been too many mixtape releases we highly recommend you Das Racist latest project and J. Period’s extensive tribute to the King of Pop. Enjoy!
