This year Takashi Murakami’s work occupies the Château de Versailles. It’s Takashi Murakami’s first major retrospective in France and in this video release, Vernissage TV correspondent Christophe Ecoffet met the artist in the garden of the palace for an exclusive interview.
On display in the 15 rooms of the Château and in the gardens are 22 major works, 11 of them are unique, and have been created exclusively for this exhibition. According to the Laurent Le Bon, the show’s curator, Murakami’s Versailles is a walk, a trail throughout the “landscape area” of Versailles.
