In a first for high profile fashion house Maison Martin Margiela, the brand has released their first pair of eyewear in the form of the L’Incognito Sunglasses. In a page out of Geordi LaForge and Star Trek: The Next Generation with the visor steez, the sunglasses feature a large wrap-around frame-less build. Aside from the style seen here, other colorways are also available.

In a story that reflects on the unconventional canvas the Zippo lighter became during the Vietnam war, FUCT has created their own design in line with symbolism a Zippo represented for soldiers in the war. Zippos quickly became a method for soldiers to express their thoughts and solidarity as many would engrave names, battalions and other random thoughts on the metal cases. Soldiers would develop strong bonds with their Zippos to the extent that enemy soldiers would rig up explosive Zippos to be left randomly at areas popular with American soldiers in hopes they would be picked up and ultimately resulting in an untimely death. Unlike the American style Zippos, the Japanese line features a much different process which achieves a different visual and in the case of the FUCT collabo, a Zippo which appears to have weathered a storm of many hard fought battles.
Number 4 of 5 from the UNDFTD Regional collection will release this Saturday, May 31st at UNDFTD’s Silverlake branch. Continuing with the trend of paying homage to UNDFTD’s retail locations, past tees exclusive to each respective store have included Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Tokyo.
After a series of fast and furious updates from Nike’s Be True Chronicles, the website entered into a temporary hibernation. However the site has been updated with two new Dunks and the subsequent stories behind them. They include the Ura Dunk Low and AKA Dunk Low.
The AKA Dunk Low was masterminded by Allen Benedikt, founder of the graffiti magazine 12ozPROPHET. The seven Dunk set (Turned-On Yellow, Groovy Green, Hash Brown, Hot-Dog Mustard, Out of Site Orange, Groovy Pink and Moody Blue) was inspired by the aesthetics of Wet Look spray cans with only 5 sets in total produced. One of the sets were in turn auctioned off for New York City’s children charity Free Arts. The AKA pack also was the defining point for NikeID as the once exclusive choices would eventually make their way to the NikeID platform.
As part of the City Attack Pack exclusive to Japan, the collection played to the collective Japanese love of the Dunk which up until the City Pack’s release in 1999 was scarce in availability. The Ura Dunk was released exclusively in the trend setting Harajuku area and despite the low production numbers, the wearing of the Ura became a great experience rather then a memento left to the confines of one’s closet. From there on it set the stage for the Japanese Dunk explosion.
Following up on the aesthetics of the Multi Gingham Check Shirt, Hirofumi Kiyonaga’s F.C.R.B. has released another similar product. The Multi Basic Polo Shirt features solid body panels in different colors, separated along the center of the shirt. The SOPH. Shop exclusive will release May 30th.
Celebrating his bachelor party with a few close friends, Sean Bell was gunned down tragically by three officers of the New York Police Department on November 25th, 2006. The unarmed Bell and his associates were shot a total of 51 times by the officers, however since the incident, justice has yet to be served. Colin of Mr. Matsui Design produced a limited run ‘Zine which focuses on the killing, politics and corruption. For an added effect, each ‘Zine has been shot 51 times as an iconic symbol to the events that transpired on Sean Bell’s last night. With the t-shirt more then ever becoming a popular artistic medium, Gap has enlisted some prolific talent in their 2008 Artist Collection of t-shirts. The list of 13 artists includes creatives such as Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Kiki Smith, Cai Guo-Qiang, Barbara Kruger, Ashley Bickerton, Kenny Scharf, Glenn Ligon, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Kerry James Marshall, Hanna Liden and Sarah Sze.
