Crooks & Castles recently put up another billboard on Fairfax after their first one got worn out by weather. This one is definitely attention-getting with their signature Medusa and snakes graphics with the word “Crooks” written in huge letters. Be on the lookout for the billboard if you’re driving around the Los Angeles area, maybe you should avoid looking straight at her in the eyes!
After a short hiatus, (COMMUNE) are set to return later this year with their 2008 fall/winter collection. Taking their work back to the drawing board, expect another solid follow-up to their debut collection from last year. Nike just released their new Air Stab Premium Quickstrike named “Runnin’ Gunnin’.” The shoe features a mixture of premium black leather upper with black mesh. It has neon pink accents and a paint-splattered effect applied on the back sole. It also has a clear outsole with matching graphics on the left and right shoe that makes this Quickstrike stand out from the rest. Available now at Major.
Hat purveyors Hall of Fame has teamed up with retro sports brand Mitchell & Ness on an upcoming three pack of hats inspired by Los Angeles’ professional sports teams. With the Olympics only a few months away, we’ve seen many brands step up their offerings with many national inspired pieces. The last few days have included a strong cast of upcoming hybrid releases with a special Beijing 2008 Olympics style created titled the Olympian. With alleged influences coming from the Air Jordan IX and X, the Olympian will be available in a handful of colors in time for the Olympics with a release date slated for August.

There’s a danger in being the new hot band of the moment. This is especially true in the new blogosphere internet hype craze that anoints a new favorite flavor almost on a daily basis. The bloggers, forum regulars and faceless internet critics shower the artists with love before they’ve heard one note from an album. Just as swiftly as that love comes so too does the wrath. Critics tap away at their keyboards with joy at picking apart every nuance of an album that doesn’t live up to their expectations. Knowing this, the fresh faced, pop, indie rock, dance, subversively titled band The Black Kids must be cautiously happy about all of the recent attention they have been receiving.
With all of their wide eyed exuberance The Black Kids seem intent on breaking the blog critic approved curse by successfully incorporating vocals that sound eerily like The Cure, guitar licks that are similar to Arcade Fire and a look that’s more similar to the cast of a Nickelodeon teen show then an angst filled indie band. All of these qualities are not just formulas for success but rather elements that The Black Kids may utilize to becoming house hold names in the immediate future. Their download format MySpace exclusive debut EP released last year “Wizard of Ahhhs” was immediately hailed as an excellent take on pop classics. Their live shows (mostly their now legendary set at the Athens Pop Fest) are praised for their endless energy. All that’s left for The Black Kids to do now is finish what they started. The single “Hurricane Jane” (also on their EP) from their new album releasing in June “Partie Traumatic”, seems like a good place to start.
Adidas has definitely been working hard as they keep coming out with new releases. Here we’re showing you one new Forest Hills release and two P-Sole releases. The Forest Hills comes with a plaid cloth material covering the sides with white shoelaces and stripe logo. The P-Sole comes in two colorways, maroon and gray, with suede covering the toes and checkered pattern on the sides. The P-Soles will be available at all Undefeated JP stores and Forest Hills available at the Undefeated JP Shizuoka store on Saturday, May 31st.
Only a few short weeks ago, China’s Sichuan area endured one of the nation’s most catastrophic natural disasters in history. More then 60,000 people have succumbed to the unfortunate events that took place on May 12th. Despite being almost a thousand miles away in Beijing at the time, the aftershocks of the earthquake itself were felt and would be a preview of the unfortunate incident that has claimed the lives of so many innocent citizens. Within the masses of fallen lie numerous children and young adults which unfortunately will never be afforded the same opportunities and chances many of us take for granted. Collaborating with Singaporean brand Flesh Imp, we have chosen to remember the youth and their premature passing in the creation of our “Lost Youth” t-shirt. The design represents the brightly lit path of the youth which was so violently removed as it slowly fades out.
