The National & Grizzly Bear Cover the Grateful Dead's "Terrapin Station"
From The National’s forthcoming Grateful Dead cover album.
Now this is how you cook up a cover that makes your heroes happy. On May 20, acclaimed indie act The National are planning to drop their own Grateful Dead tribute project. Entitled Day of the Dead, the tribute album will come to us curated by The National and loaded with contributions by several dozen musicians. In anticipation of that effort’s release, The National have liberated one of its standout records. Linking up with over 50 artists, The National deliver their nearly 17-minute take on the Grateful Dead‘s “Terrapin Station.” Among the musicians enlisted for this Grateful Dead epic are members of Grizzly Bear, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and more. You can check out the entire recording above. For more information on the entire project, check out 4AD’s official page for it.
