P-Rod’s latest signature makes its debut in Elite form.
Paul Rodriguez’s signature kicks have always pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with skatebaording footwear and that’s no different with the introduction of the brand new Paul Rodriguez 9 Elite from Nike SB. An illustration of “what happens when skateboarding and technology dap each other up,” the shoe is easily the most technologically advanced P-Rod design to date; it also marks a milestone for Rodriguez as he joins an elite list of Nike athletes who have had at least nine signature silhouettes. Combining P-Rod’s own style with a forward-thinking approach to the sport, the design sees the employment of Nike’s hexagonal Zoom Air for some of the most low-profile, flexible cushioning around while Flywire cables keep the foot locked in place. Thanks to Hyperfuse quarter panels, the shoe is lighter than ever while supple suede applications to the toe box and heel provide a luxurious touch. Nike SB’s design team has even moved the lacing further back on the silhouette so that they can withstand the wear and tear of skating at least a tad longer.
Sleek black and rich red colorways of the Nike SB Paul Rodriguez 9 Elite will be available beginning this Thursday, July 2 from stockists like Grand Rapids-based Premier.
