2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan, a festive occasion for a brand that’s transcended sport, fashion and culture for the past three decades. Building off a strong end of the year, which introduced us to a remastered shoe program, Jordan Brand makes significant strides in its apparel collection for Spring, placing an emphasis on fit, quality and performance, much like we’re used to seeing in footwear. Designed for appeal both on and off the hardwood, each of these three capsules find inspiration in ’flight’, all in a unique way that pays homage to the Jumpman. Crafted for the modern man, equally fueled by fashion and sport, we get a look into the second collection by Russell Westbrook for Barney’s, a luxurious throwback to the past by Chicago’s Don C, and a celebration of NBA All-Star Weekend with a tip of the hat to iconic Jordan graphics of the past. Blessed with the opportunity to put our own spin on these future classics, we present a stylized editorial by HYPEBEAST, with a more thorough breakdown of each collection offered below:
Russell Westbrook Jordan Barney’s Collection
Leading the charge as one of the most stylish sportsmen, Russell Westbrook announces his second collaboration with world-class retailer Barney’s New York. The collection includes a range of technical and eccentric pieces that display Russell’s affinity for all things bold and unexpected. A mix of high-fashion and on-court basketball silhouettes, the line perfectly represents the point guard’s personal style with fashion-forward pieces inspired by flight. Select items from the collection release on February 1, 2015, with further designs following on March 1, 2015 and exclusive footwear that includes the Jordan Shine dropping March 4, 2015. All items will be sold exclusively through Barneys.
Don C Pinnacle Bomber Jacket and Air Jordan II
Inspired by an archived AJ II Wings Crew bomber, Jordan Brand teams up with Don C in creating an exclusive elevated jacket featuring luxurious sateen and a quilted interior lining. Leather Wing appliqués on the sleeves link back to the iconic AJ II, along with MJ’s signature embroidered on the back. A Don C sign off on the interior back label and a suede patch with silicone AJ Wings logo on the left chest round out a story filled with premium aesthetics. Look for the Don C Air Jordan II to release on January 31, 2015, with the jacket now available through select accounts.
ASW Pinnacle Apparel
Stimulated by one of the most iconic Michael Jordan images of all time and the 30th Anniversary of the Air Jordan, the pinnacle apparel assortment utilizes bold graphics and a cleansing white palette to showcase Jordan’s legacy and ever evolving brand. Full bleed graphics on the tee and long sleeve top add dimension to the assortment alongside soft fleece material and tapered silhouettes. Look for the collection to release on February 7, 2015 with the Air Jordan 1 Laser, retailing at $185 USD, debuting on February 8, 2015.
