The summer brings out rays of sunshine, one too many drinks, casual barbecues and most of all, eclectic footwear. Even a slight increase in temperature gives good reason to find shade and a rush to bust out as many shorts and T-shirts as we can, but what about footwear? To answer this question we look towards what is the earliest form of footwear invented — the sandal.
For many a millennium, the sandal has been utilized for a multitude of purposes due to its functionality and breathability, not to mention the simplicity in crafting such an item. The sandal has continually developed over the years and gone beyond functionality. The sandal — especially outside the sporting realm — has often garnered a lot of negative press among menswear, but we’d argue it isn’t entirely warranted.
“The Summer of Slides” showcases how sandals can be appropriate for a number of situations, as careful consideration towards styling can go a long way. In our feature, we look at a variety of sandals that encompass the majority in the spectrum of fashion, from the high-end likes of KRISVANASSCHE to the more streetwear-appropriate levels of adidas and Supreme.
