HYPEBEAST Eats: Badmaash is Not Your Average Indian Restaurant

Forgoing intricate tapestries, buffet tables, and the soft mood lighting many have come to associate with Indian restaurants, Badmaash serves up Indian cuisine with a whole new attitude that is at once approachable and bad-ass. Launched by Pawan Mahendro and his sons Nakul and Arjun, the LA-based Indian gastropub serves up traditional flavors with a bit of modern foodie innovation. Visitors can look forward to original signatures like a lamb burger with paprika mayo washed down with bottles of Thums Up — India’s answer to Coca-Cola.
Having grown up in Toronto, the Badmaash boys show some special love for their cross-cultural upbringing with their special Chicken Tikka Poutine, which combines crispy fries tossed in paprika masala and chicken tikka cooked in a clay tandoor oven. On the decor side, Badmaash keeps its interior simple and industrial, though vintage Bollywood posters and a pop-art Gandhi mural add just a touch of East Indian flair.
