Nike Future Sole Design Competition Recap
by Eugene Kan, July 15, 2008

Launching at the start of 2008, the Nike Future Sole project was an unreal opportunity for up and coming design inspired students as Nike put the wheels in motion for a future crop of designers. After sorting through 150 sketches from budding designers with a passion for Nike, two finalists were chosen; Each enlisted with a task of designing their own Force and Flight shoes respectively. Juan Carlos Pozo of Florida went to work with Sports Culture Designer Marc Dolce on a Flight model (Air Flight Comanche) while his counterpart from Massachusetts, Ben Adams-Keane put the touches on a Force (Air Force Adapt) shoe with the help of Jordan Brand Designer, Justin Taylor. If the Apple grand prizes weren’t enough icing on the cake, each designer were also presented with 3D models of their designs. Nike has paved the way for a new generation of designers with this Future Sole initiative and should provide a great opportunity for youngsters to get their foot in the sneaker world.

do they have t2 be nikes cuz i make jordans if anybody has info on the jordan brand let me know at myspace.com/yongspade or drwgood@yahoo.com thanx
both of these shoes are sick.
the black ones are alright but the ones that he is wearing are better. what are those?
I’d rock the black ones…
dey look like sumfin out of star ship troopers man
The white ones are REALLY ugly, just like nothing. But I REALLY like the black and red ones, a lot. except for that checkered crap on the sole. But the shape is rediculously gorgeous. if they ever realease even with that checkered sole they are MINE!
these kids design shoes better than nike ….hahhaa
I think it’s a great idea that Nike gave an opportunity to some of the people who actually buy the shoes. Besides an introduction to the industry and a major boost in confidence, Nike also gave them a lot of great things for coming up with the winning designs. Way better than sitting at home talking shit about the shoes that they designed…
so is nike going to do anything with these ideas??? i’d buy 3 pairs of the comanche asap
If I had to pick, I like the black ones…..but I wouldn’t actually wear either of them….just a matter of personal taste. That being said – they just got off to a great start in their shoes designing careers.
The Black ones kinda look like the Dennis Rodman’s
give them a break! there fuckin performance basketball shoes! not shoes to look good in!!I would love to play ball in those black ones
id rock the fukk outta the black ones if the came in grey
I wish the 3D models would have followed the sketches more, it’s the little details that throw the shoes off.
congrats to both those guys, if i was given that oppurtunity when i was their age everything wud be so much easier. its a grat way to bring in new designers and build up the status of footwear design as an oppurtunity for ppl who want to work in the industry
is it me or does the 1st design look like the adidas crazy 8’s????
i might be wrong, bit neither one of these dudes looks like a ball player. i figured i would have seen an athletic looking person involved with athletic shoes. but thats just my 2 cents.
THEY ARE BOTH HIDEOUS!!!
I wonder if they have function as well as looks?
AJ13 influence on the sole (black ones)
OK white guy mix the Lebron’s Soldier with a lil’ bit of hyperdunk and KB8…and that’s what you get.The other one is a mix of AJ XXI and McFly’s….The fat guy gets my vote!!!
wow.. good job hypebeast. this was actually interesting
they both look nice. you can kinda see where they got the influences from. the black ones look kinda like a bascketball version of the mercurial vapor IV, well, they have the same kind of swoosh at least
Congrats to the both of them. They both have a really bright future ahead.
SAY WHAT YOU WANT. THAT IS OPENING UP THE DOORS FOR THOSE CATS. I WISH I KNEW ABOUT IT.
both hella ugly
those black one’s are nice. If the price is low………………
