BAPE and Medicom Toy Launch "Maneki-neko" and "Daruka" BE@RBRICK Set
Made in 100% and 400% examples, each model features BAPE’s signature APE HEAD motif across its facade.
A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and Medicom Toy have joined forces to create an all-new set of BE@RBRICK designs.
Dubbed “Maneki-neko” and “Daruma” after the Japanese good luck charms, the collection includes four figurines in two different sizes: 100% and 400%. “Maneki-neko” is black-plated, while “Daruma” is white-plated, and both designs are covered in the signature BAPE CAMO print.
The former model pictures BAPE’s classic APE HEAD illustration on the elbows and knees of its construction, while the latter figure houses the APE HEAD motif inside its right eye only. In Japanese tradition, it’s customary to draw in the left eye once a wish has been granted.
The full set arrives in a specially designed box with “Daigan Jyosei” lettering in kanji across its facade. With four total BE@RBRICKS, the set’s 100% models measure roughly 7cm tall, and the 400% designs measure approximately 28 cm tall.
The toys follow on from BAPE’s previous BE@RBRICK set with READYMADE, which featured 100% and 1000% examples with removable ghillie suits.
The BAPE x Medicom Toy “Maneki-neko” and “Daruma” set will launch on Saturday, July 20, in BAPE’s London store on Conduit Street and online. The set of four will be priced at £489 GBP. Take a look at the designs in the gallery above.
