Description

Michael Cherman is an American streetwear designer born in New York City and raised in both New York and San Diego, CA. In the pursuit of becoming a designer, Cherman returned to NYC from San Diego in the summer of 2009 to attend Parsons New School of Design. During his time as a student, he also worked at Good Wood NYC Prohibit NYC -- a former mainstay as the Lower East Side’s authority on Japanese menswear. After one year of juggling student life and gaining real life work experience, he made the decision to drop out of school and tackle the industry head on. After leaving school, Michael worked for two and a half years at the Nike 255 Studio and Nike Bowery Stadium. During this time, Michael also began spearheading his design career by creating the branding for A$AP Worldwide and Kith NYC, amongst many other notable clients. In 2012, after a few accidents and close calls on his bike, he left Nike to start ICNY Reflective-Wear, his first apparel venture inspired by the necessity for functional safety and increased visibility fused with style. Cherman continues to oversee the design direction for ICNY, having applied his creative capacity to collaborations with brands like PUMA, Staple Design, and Jason Markk.
