Summary
Chris Pratt has confirmed that Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The actor revealed on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast that hard action has been taken by Marvel Studios leadership
Pratt previously pitched his own creative vision to Kevin Feige to help shape future MCU storytelling
Marvel Studios and actor Chris Pratt are officially moving forward with Star-Lord’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pratt confirmed on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast that concrete steps have been initiated to follow up on the character’s future teased at the close of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Speaking on the podcast, Pratt addressed his ongoing communication with executive leadership regarding Peter Quill’s return, “I have a great relationship with Kevin [Feige] and Lou [D’Esposito], and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” said Pratt. He continued, “So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere.”
The confirmation builds upon statements Pratt made earlier on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he admitted to pitching a concept directly to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. “I’m happy to do anything they want me to do and will,” Pratt previously explained. “And also, I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do. And I think it’s fucking great.” When asked about bringing that proposal to Feige, Pratt stated, “Yep. And I think that, you know, I’m down to contribute any way I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling, you know? And also, I have a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to that.”
Pratt has portrayed Star-Lord across six films to date, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The next installment in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18.
