Renowned manga artist Takehiko Inoue – celebrated for defining works like Slam Dunk and Vagabond – has teamed up with New Era for a commemorative collaboration centered on his acclaimed wheelchair basketball series, Real.
Created to celebrate the release of the manga’s 17th volume, the joint collection brings the intense, human narrative of the series into lifestyle apparel and headwear. The core of the capsule highlights New Era’s low-profile, unstructured 9TWENTY silhouettes, offering a relaxed fit and a casual, low-crown profile. Three variations spotlight Kiyoharu Togawa, Tomomi Nomiya and Hisanobu Takahashi, retaining the character-specific details established in the first release. Each cap also features an interior lining printed with memorable scenes selected from the manga’s latest collected volume, Volume 17, introducing a more understated reference to Inoue’s illustrations beneath the otherwise familiar baseball cap silhouette.
The Real x New Era 9TWENTY collection is scheduled to launch in Japan on October 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. JST, with each cap priced at ¥6,600 JPY (approx. $44 USD). The collection will be available through New Era Japan’s official online store.
