Paramount has officially uncoupled the 'G.I. Joe' franchise from its previously teased Transformers crossover
Paramount Pictures has officially cast Bradley Cooper as field commander Duke in its upcoming G.I. Joe film reboot. The project is set to be directed by Danny McBride, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri to deliver a fresh take on the iconic Hasbro toy line.
While specific plot details and additional casting remain under wraps, the upcoming feature marks McBride’s first major action tentpole as a director following his work on HBO series such as The Righteous Gemstones and Vice Principals. Paramount confirmed that this new standalone iteration has been officially “uncoupled” from the Transformers universe, setting aside the crossover concept previously teased at the end of 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Zev Foreman for Hasbro Entertainment, the project adds to a major slate of IP revivals at Paramount. Cooper, a 12-time Oscar nominee, takes on the iconic leadership role while currently in production on an Ocean’s 11 prequel that he is directing and starring in alongside Margot Robbie and Monica Barbaro.
Release date and production details for Paramount’s G.I. Joe reboot are expected to be announced in the coming months.
