Paramount Pictures and director Ti West have released a new official trailer for Ebenezer, a dark reimagining of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The film stars Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge, marking the actor’s first major Hollywood studio release in eight years.
Guided by the logline “The name you know, the story you don’t,” the new trailer highlights Ti West’s signature horror aesthetic—best known from his X trilogy—by leaning into the darker elements of the classic holiday tale. The footage captures Depp’s Scrooge facing terrifying spectral apparitions alongside a harrowing sequence depicting him buried alive.
The film features a notable ensemble cast alongside Depp, including Ian McKellen, Daisy Ridley, Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, and Tramell Tillman. Marking Depp’s return to studio cinema since 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the actor will follow up the release with Lionsgate’s Day Drinker in March 2027.
