Islam Makhachev extended his historic winning streak to 17 consecutive fights at UFC 330 in Philadelphia

The pound-for-pound leader defeated Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision with scores of 49-46 49-46 and 48-47

Makhachev officially broke Anderson Silva's 13-year-old record for the longest win streak in UFC history

UFC hosted UFC 330 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, delivering a 12-bout fight card highlighted by two successful title defenses. The main event saw welterweight champion Islam Makhachev defend his belt against challenger Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision. The 170-pound main event saw Makhachev earn official judges’ scores of 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47 to secure his 17th consecutive Octagon victory.

Despite facing heavy opposition and striking pressure on the feet from Machado Garry, Makhachev turned the tide in the second round with a brutal head kick that stunned the Irishman. The champion maintained authority across the remaining rounds to lock up his first official welterweight title defense.

The five-round contest saw the Dagestani champion utilize relentless wrestling alongside opportunistic striking against his taller Irish opponent. In the second round, Makhachev gained crucial momentum by landing a heavy head kick knockdown that floored Garry. Despite surrendering seven total takedowns throughout the night, Garry fought well off the cage wall, enjoying his best momentum in the third round by stuffing takedown attempts and responding with heavy body kicks and head kick combinations before landing short shots in the clinch during the fourth.

Makhachev executed a clinical fifth-round strategy to lock up the decision win. Shooting into Garry’s legs within the opening 90 seconds of the final frame, the champion dragged his opponent back to the mat and secured a body triangle from back control to dominate the remaining minutes.

With the victory, the 34-year-old fighter officially surpassed middleweight legend Anderson Silva’s 16-fight winning streak, a record that stood untouched for over 13 years. The victory marks Makhachev’s first successful defense of the welterweight championship following his initial title win at UFC 322.

The card featured additional major storylines across the lineup, including women’s strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern defending her title via unanimous decision against Gillian Robertson. Middleweight Dustin Stoltzfus pulled off a massive upset as a 5-to-1 underdog with a second-round rear-naked choke over Mansur Abdul-Malik, while flyweight Charles Johnson delivered a Submission of the Year candidate by finishing Eduardo Chapolin with a rare Scottish Twister. Meanwhile, Philadelphia native Jeremiah Wells registered one of the largest underdog comebacks in UFC history, putting Myktybek Orolbai to sleep with a third-round ninja choke.
