Sperry and BEAMS PLUS have officially teamed up to release the Sperry x BEAMS PLUS MIL CVO, a limited-edition collaboration that pays homage to the legacy of the Circular Vamp Oxford. Bridging the gap between the past and the present, the global drop contemporizes rugged military history for today’s style purists through a highly authentic, detail-oriented lens.
Rooted deeply in Sperry’s original 1935 CVO — widely recognized as the world’s first boat shoe — this updated silhouette draws its primary inspiration from a military model produced by a US rubber company for the US Navy during World War II. To bring the project to life, BEAMS PLUS and Sperry meticulously reimagined the archival design by utilizing the exact tooling, construction techniques, and attention to detail employed in the 1940s.
The resulting footwear is presented in two new two-tone colorways: Olive/Black and Navy/Black. Structurally, the shoe functions as a masterclass in vintage reproduction, incorporating a wider-than-usual side tape that connects the upper and sole. This functional detail enhances the classic aesthetic while ensuring modern comfort for daily wear. To further cement the archival illusion, the exterior is finished with period-correct elements, including logos reminiscent of original wartime contractor labels and carefully placed hand-stamped markings.
The Sperry x BEAMS PLUS MIL CVO drops on May 5 marking the first time the collaborative silhouette will be available in an expanded size range of US men’s 4 through 13.
