BEAMS Plus & RRL Revive "1944 Model" Denim Jacket & Jeans
The two WWII-era models are made in the USA and reprised with original details like the T-back construction and selvedge denim.
Summary
- BEAMS Plus and RRL’s “1944 Model” denim capsule features authentic WWII-era details, including “T-Back” construction, painted stitches, and surplus pocket fabrics.
- Made in the USA, this exclusive Indigo collection drops February 7 at BEAMS Plus, joining a trend of high-end archival denim reissues.
One thing that collaborators BEAMS Plus and RRL share in common is a genuine respect for classic American silhouettes. Both the Japan-born Americana label and Ralph Lauren’s premium sub-brand draw from bygone periods of menswear marked by utility, thoughtful design, and durability.
On February 7, the two brands are set to release an archive-inspired denim capsule inspired by wartime models. Shaped by material rationing during WWII, the TYPE 1 Jacket and the 1944 vintage pocket jeans boast unique details, differentiating them from contemporary denim styles. In classic unwashed Indigo, the jeans have painted arcuate stitches and mismatched surplus pocket fabric, while the jacket reprises historic details, like the original “T-Back” construction, laurel-engraved buttons, and a needle-style cinch back.
As they would have been in 1944, each piece is made in the USA and is marked with a special label reading “EXCLUSIVE LIMITED PRODUCTION FOR BEAMS+.” At 148,500 yen (~$946.72 USD) for the Type 1 Jacket and 90,200 yen (~$575.05 USD) for the 1944 Vintage 5-Pocket Jeans, the capsule is available exclusively from BEAMS Plus.
The release comes as brands are both looking back at historic denim models and elevating the status of the fabric beyond its casual notions. Simultaneously, more American brands are locking their eyes on Japan for premium denim releases and collaborations. In a similar concept, Levi’s Vintage Clothing unveiled an archival recreation of the 1944 501® Jeans Rigid in January, and Lee reissued its 1948-born Lee Rider and Storm Rider in late 2025.
Slated to drop on February 7, the limited release will be available at BEAMS PLUS Harajuku, BEAMS PLUS Marunouchi, BEAMS PLUS Osaka, BEAMS MEN Shibuya, BEAMS LIFE Yokohama, BEAMS Kobe, BEAMS Nagoya, BEAMS Tsujido, and the BEAMS Official Online Shop.
