Summary

  • The North Face Purple Label’s SS26 “Mountain Ivy” collection blends 90s-inspired urban outdoor wear with Ivy League style, featuring oversized silhouettes and archival utility details.
  • The range emphasizes sustainable craftsmanship, utilizing natural-fiber accessories and nuanced dyeing techniques across three distinct thematic categories.

The North Face Purple Label, the Japan-exclusive line powered by nanamica, has unveiled its SS26 collection centered on the theme of “Mountain Ivy.”

Combining outdoor silhouettes with Ivy-inspired twists, this collection reflects the line’s commitment to “outdoor wear that functions in the city.” The Nanamica team has divided the collection into three categories: “ASPHALT & GREEN RECORD,” “TRIP IN THE WIND,” and “PURPLE BASE,” a palette based on the brand’s signature asphalt gray that incorporates vivid summer accents, including blue and red.

This season, a particularly 90s sensibility owes its origins to the brand’s archives, which have been cultivated and curated for decades. Baggy fits, oversized utility pockets, and grunge-inspired styles lend the collection a relaxed, casual energy, appropriate for the sub-label’s consciously urban/outdoor ethos. Each piece is meticulously crafted, down to the smallest detail, to enhance adaptability in various environmental conditions and climates.

Nuanced processing techniques, such as garment dyeing and uneven dyeing, are incorporated to create an organic, yet expressive feel. Standing out is a smokey blue-gray dye effect applied to a jacket and pants set, and a patchwork number comprising a beige logo top and color-blocked trousers.

The lineup also includes accessories and bags composed with a natural materiality, based on the idea of minimizing the use of petroleum-based accessories wherever possible.

As of the time of writing, an official release date for The North Face Purple Label SS26 has not been announced.
