If heaven is Chicago, then Saba and No ID are surely a match made on-site. The powerhouse rapper/producer duo has promised a proper joint project for months now, and on this mid-March Tuesday, the pair has decided to officially unveil From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID, a holistic homage to the Chicago hip-hop scene.

“Every Painting Has A Price,” opens the 15-track delivery on a high note, hearing features from BJ The Chicago Kid and Eryn Allen Kane. “Some of my clothes designer / some of them b*tches thrifted,” Saba spits on the bouncy first verse, bolstered by a BJ-led bridge. “Breakdown” is another cut rooted in growth and healing – prominent themes throughout the entirety of the diverse tracklist which lifts inspiration from all pockets of Chicago culture.

Other features come from Kelly Rowland and Raphael Saadiq on track three, “Crash,” MFnMelo on “Westside Bound Pt. 4” – the continuation of “Westside Bound 3” among many others.

Ahead of the album – which, in its initial form was actually branded as a mixtape – Saba and No ID shared a solid run of singles including the prolific and profound “How To Impress God,” “Woes of the World” and “head.rap” with Ogi, Madison McFerrin and Jordan Ward. Find the full tracklist below.

A reflective and refreshing listen, From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID is rooted in the real-time emotions of both Saba and No ID, making for a stream of conscious type of subject matter – ranging from zodiac sign banter to pondering his purpose.

A year ago, the duo thought they were finished with the project, but when Saba’s uncle passed away, they began to reevaluate the rollout. “He’s the person who made me fall in love with hip-hop,” Saba said of his uncle. “It made me want to re-approach things; I had to have a lot of conversations with myself that I hadn’t had to have in a long time.”

“To be able to have a real career, you have to reinvent your thought process, reinvent your perspective,” added No ID. “And you can’t do it sitting on the mountaintop, yelling about what you did. You think you know—and then everything changes.”
