Kurono Tokyo has unveiled a cool and sleek 2024 Anniversary Reiwa timepiece, the latest addition to its Grand Series.

Drawing inspiration from the serene beauty of Fukushima’s Ruri-Numa lake (“瑠璃沼”), a complementing aqua-blue hue is incorporated within the watch’s two-part dial and strap. Described by the watchmaker as a “lapis-green,” the color punctuates the periphery of the glossy black dial center with a metallic tone.

The Reiwa reference was first introduced back in 2019 to commemorate the turn of the era. Marking its fifth anniversary, Kurono Tokyo has decided to bring back the timepiece once again, despite its complex manufacturing process. “This year’s Anniversary Reiwa is multiple factors harder to make due to its higher color contrast,” the brand explains, “Since manufacturing started in January 2024, only an average of 5 out of every 100 dials produced have been accepted.”

Priced at $1,790 USD, the 2024 Anniversary Reiwa timepiece is complete with a signed caseback. Starting May 16, 10 a.m. EDT, the watch will be available through Kurono Tokyo’s limited ordering window on its official website. Once the order has been confirmed, shipments are expected to take place between the end of June to August 2024.
