Gerald Charles Unveils "Masterlink" Timepiece for Watches & Wonders 2024

At Watches & Wonders 2024, luxury watchmaker Gerald Charles introduced the Masterlink, a timepiece that embodies the evolution of the iconic Maestro case. This innovative design, conceptualized by the late and legendary watch designer Gérald Genta, showcases the brand’s first asymmetrical integrated bracelet, setting a new standard in watchmaking excellence.

Masterlink stands out with its slimmer profile, versatile design and a unique blend of elegance and sportiness, making it instantly recognizable. Crafted from steel, a material once championed by Genta as precious, the watch is a tribute to his pioneering vision, signaling the dawn of a significant legacy.

The watch aims to represent the invisible chemistry between Genta and the brand’s current Creative Director, Octavio Garcia, whose collaboration, though separated by time, resonates through their creations. The Masterlink symbolizes the culmination of this connection, rooted in Gerald Charles’s heritage and pointing towards a future of continued innovation.

Taking a closer look at the design, the Masterlink presents a harmonious integration of the bracelet and the Maestro’s emblematic asymmetrical case, preserving the iconic “smile” at 6 o’clock. The development of this seamless bracelet was a challenge that the R&D team met with exceptional skill, ensuring each link delicately conforms to the case’s shape, adding complexity and artisanship to the manufacturing process.

“The Masterlink represents the next step in our brand’s evolution,” stated Federico Ziviani, CEO of Gérald Charles. It’s a leap into the future, embodying a design that is both unorthodox and true to the brand’s DNA, from its inception in 2020 to its prototype completion in 2024.

Notably, the watch is powered by a compact Manufacture movement, boasting a two-day power reserve — demonstrating the brand’s commitment to reliability and precision, created in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Furthermore, the Masterlink comes available in two versions, with either a blue or silver dial, with more information available upon request through Gerald Charles’ official channels.
