Amsterdam-based footwear label Filling Pieces has unveiled its new Court 683 sneaker, placing its focus on more sustainable materials and responsible methods of sourcing. The silhouette is based around the brand’s Low Plain Court silhouette, which has now been constructed using fully-traceable, Dutch organic leather hides.

The leather uppers are sourced using the Trace Your Leather Cooperative, while other features include a PET mesh lining, laces from organic cotton with a beeswax coat and recycled cork insoles. The sneaker’s rubber soles have been replaced with a sugarcane EVA equivalent.

The silhouette takes its name from the additional price of manufacturing, with the new materials and process costing an extra €6.83 EUR. The sneaker is also the first in the new 683 line of conscious products, as the brand moves towards its entire collection becoming more sustainable. In order to show this transition, the sneakers come with a cattle-style tag bearing a QR code, taking wearers to a webpage dedicated to the responsible steps in making the shoe.

The Low Plain Court 683 is available now from the Filling Pieces web store, in black, beige, grey and white.

In related news, PUMA recently launched a new biodegradable collection.
