Nike is lining up a new “Black/Volt” treatment of the Air Max Goadome, and the appeal of this one is almost entirely in the surfaces. The boot’s upper pairs black and Anthracite leather in two different finishes, setting smooth panels against textured sections around the sides and collar so the tonal palette still reads with depth. It is a build that asks to be examined up close rather than clocked from across a room.
The commitment to tonality is close to total. Laces, eyelets, tongue, stitching and sole all sit in the same register, which leaves the boot without the usual visual breaks that separate a Goadome’s component parts. Small silver Swooshes on the lateral sides are the only concession to contrast on the upper, and they are scaled down enough that they register as hardware rather than branding.
Underneath, the construction does the talking. Visible Air cushioning is worked into both the heel and the forefoot, giving the silhouette impact protection at both ends rather than at the rear alone, while the outsole keeps the deep tread pattern the model is known for. The one deliberate break in the blackout is a Volt ACG badge sitting on the sole, positioned so the color reads only from certain angles.
