Nike is dressing up its most enduring sneaker with the Air Force 1 LX, a leather-heavy take on the icon arriving in a Black, Anthracite and Metallic Silver colorway. Rather than reinventing the silhouette, the release leans into material and finish, treating the decades-old design as a canvas for a more luxurious build.

The LX treatment keeps the bones intact and pushes the materials upmarket. The upper is cut from genuine leather and layered with an additional leather cover for a richer surface, while the Swoosh is rendered in a metallic finish that catches against the tonal black. The source frames the shoe as an elevated edition of the 1980s style, and the detailing bears that out, favoring texture and shine over the flat, matte leather of a standard pair.

Underfoot, the shoe stays true to the template that made it a mainstay. A foam midsole houses the Nike Air unit that has cushioned the model since the beginning, and the rubber outsole retains the concentric pivot circles that are as much a visual signature of the AF1 as the Swoosh itself. It is the same functional package the shoe has carried for years, dressed here in a more premium shell.

The all-black palette does a lot of the heavy lifting. A tonal Black and Anthracite base keeps the look versatile and understated, letting the Metallic Silver Swoosh serve as the single point of contrast, a restrained approach that fits the AF1’s long history of being as at home in a rotation of loud collaborations as it is in quiet, blacked-out staples.
