Blancpain Debuts the Petite, Spherical Lady B Wristwatch

Blancpain is marking the 70th anniversary of its Ladybird collection with the introduction of Lady B, a new mechanical timepiece that revisits the miniature proportions and jewelry-led character of the original 1956 Ladybird Bullet.
Conceived under Betty Fiechter – the first woman to lead a Swiss watch Manufacture – the historic model was distinguished by the R55, then the world’s smallest round mechanical movement produced in series. Defined by its spherical case measuring 19mm in diameter and 13.2mm in thickness, the watch occupies a total volume of just 2.9 cubic centimeters. The watch case features an integrated lugless passage through which a double-tour calf leather strap glides seamlessly, available in white, light beige, dark beige, burgundy, fuchsia purple or classic blue. Complementing the smooth, monolithic architecture is a clean opaline dial featuring gold applied stick indices, polished hands, and a mirror-like polished rehaut that enhances its sculptural depth.
Despite its jewelry-like proportions, Lady B remains resolutely mechanical, powered by Blancpain’s automatic Manufacture caliber 615, a 15.7mm-wide movement comprising 180 components and 29 jewels, with a silicon balance spring, 3 Hz frequency and 38-hour power reserve. The watch also continues Blancpain’s longstanding focus on mechanical miniaturization, with the Maison emphasizing the technical work hidden beneath Lady B’s minimal exterior. Its two-part case is hand-finished across polished, satin-finished and micro-blasted surfaces, while the integrated strap passage is micro-blasted internally and finished by hand around its edges.
Both are water-resistant to 30 meters and are not limited editions, with the steel variant priced at $12,600 USD, while the red-gold model retails for $19,200 USD.
